Ode (well, 24 words) to a toad

30 April, 2009

Grey, brown toad. What are you doing on my allotment?

Steve nearly strimmed you. Well avoided, sir!

Clamber to safety, to your slug dinner!

Fifteen minutes

27 April, 2009

Stick thin crescent moon stared down on my fifteen minutes surveying pregnant allotment, thriving in bird song, sheep and cow noises, fresh air smells.

Allotment recap

20 April, 2009

April’s potato planting: Dunluce double rows; Desiree times three; couple of potted spuds.

Broad beans and cabbage flourishing.

Runner bean and pea trenches dug.

Rewards

12 April, 2009

Smell mix: tequila and Jeyes fluid. Scored margaritas this weekend: rewards for greenhouse cleaning, potato planting and general busying.

Also scored sweet Lindt chocolate.

Ruddy face

5 April, 2009

Allotment: planted surprise cabbages, thanks Gordon. Red onions and early potatoes buried yesterday.

Greenhouse: cucumbers, tomatoes’ new friends.

Face: ruddy and tingling with sun.

Blog siblings

30 March, 2009

Other blogs:

  • original donut never found a voice
  • allotment started well, rain dampened it
  • photos (best effort) reflected daily life
  • others? hardly worth mentioning.

Growth

25 March, 2009

Seedlings: sixteen of  eighteen tomatoes germinated. Zero chilli growth.

Allotment: hoping no broad bean damage from today’s gale.

Sprouts: red clover, delicious and nutritious.

Summer in March

23 March, 2009

Allotment: drew map of beds, measured and planned planting. Potato beds too narrow.

The end of summer in March. Trade allotment for desk tomorrow.

Farce and fun

20 March, 2009

Sport farce: game decided by computer program. Another day in cricket’s annus horribilis.

Allotment fun: captions please. Nice to bask in early Spring sun.

White blanket

5 March, 2009

090305-snow031

Woke to a white blanket.

Day off: gardening not possible; installed smoke alarms after hour search for drill chuck key.

Jacko? This isn’t it.
